I will never adopt a dog blindly. I’ve seen way too much and know too much about the dogs coming out of shelters and bad breeders. Mike Shikashio’s podcast Bitey End of the Dog has an episode on this and how we are seeing such an increase in behavior issues due to lack of selectivity. It’s a huge problem and I don’t know how to solve it. We are spaying/neutering everything that comes in the door and yet they are showing up in higher numbers than ever. But that means the behaviorally great dogs are being fixed too.

I had to go through behavioral euthanasia with a foster dog and it was one of the hardest choices I’ve had to make.
