Curious if your dog is a good fit for service training?

Need help with task-specific or public access training?

Personalized Training for Your Service Dog

Service dogs require specialized skills and training to perform their roles reliably. Our training program is designed to help your dog master essential tasks while ensuring they are well-behaved in public settings. With positive reinforcement methods and a commitment to individualized care, we’ll guide you and your dog through each step of the training process.

What We Offer:

  • Task-Specific Training: From mobility assistance and retrieving items to psychiatric support tasks, we tailor the training to your specific needs and requirements.

  • Public Access Training: We ensure your dog is well-mannered and reliable in a variety of public settings, including stores, restaurants, and transportation, following ADA guidelines.

  • Behavior Modification: We address any behavioral challenges, such as fear, anxiety, or reactivity, to ensure your dog is calm and focused in any environment.

  • Ongoing Support: We provide continuous guidance throughout your dog’s training journey, offering follow-up sessions to help maintain and strengthen your dog’s skills over time.

Our Process:

  1. Interview: We ask to speak with you before you commit to training with Sits ‘n Wiggles. We want to make sure you are aware of the commitment to training your own service dog and that we are a good fit for you.

  2. Initial Consultation: We begin with a thorough assessment to understand your specific needs, your dog’s current skills, and any areas for improvement.

  3. Customized Training Plan: Based on your consultation, we develop a personalized training plan to teach the necessary tasks and skills for your service dog.

  4. Hands-On Training: Tiffany Shields, our experienced service dog trainer, works with you and your dog in real-world scenarios to ensure they’re prepared for daily life as a service dog.

  5. Public Access Test: Once your dog has mastered the required skills, we conduct a Public Access Test to confirm their readiness for service work in public environments.

Common Service Dog Tasks We Train For:

  • Mobility Assistance: Helping with balance, retrieving items, opening doors, and more.

  • Psychiatric Support: Deep pressure therapy, interrupting anxiety behaviors, and grounding techniques.

  • Medical Alert: Alerting to conditions such as seizures, diabetic episodes, or panic attacks.
