What is this crazy thing called positive reinforcement training?
Positive reinforcement is a powerful and effective tool to help shape new, desirable behavior. Positive reinforcement works by presenting a motivating item to the dog, cat, or even human after the desired behavior is exhibited, making the behavior more likely to happen again in the future. Positive reinforcement is backed up by scientific research as being more effective and longer lasting than “traditional” methods of training that use punishment via the use of prong, choke, or shock collars. We find what motivates your pet, be it treats, play, or praise, to get them to replace “bad” behaviors (jumping, chewing, house soiling, etc) with “good” behaviors (sit, down, stay, relax). This method of training may take a little longer but the results last and have real life applications and best of all you have a happy and willing pup!
